Gapen - David

Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Journal Friday, 26 July 1895

Thorntown, July 23—David Gapen, a well known farmer residing just north of this city, dropped dead when sitting at dinner in Orear’s restaurant here today. His dinner had just been placed before him when he was noticed to lean suddenly forward, and when assistance reached him, he was found to be beyond the power of medical skill.
The deceased was aged forty eight years and unmarried. His death takes another member from a family whose history is closely interwoven with that of Boone and Montgomery Counties, Zachariah Gapen, the father of the deceased, having been one of the pioneer settlers of Montgomery County. Later he, with his family, removed to Thorntown, where he built and operated a tannery.
